Helen is an expressive, and dedicated dance artist. Originally trained in musical theatre, modern dance, and hip-hop, Helen has developed a versatile and colourful career, working both as a movement director, performer, and teacher for institutions across the U.K.  To date she has collaborated with the likes of Billy Read’s Def Motion, The Birmingham REP,  London’s Southbank Centre, Trinity Laban, The BBC,  Stagecoach, Vamos Cubana and The Birmingham Hippodrome. She is currently company choreographer for new Midlands theatre company Regional Voice , who were awarded a full-scale grant from ACE in April 2017 for their new production ‘The Darlaston Dog Fight’. The production will tour from March 2018.

Helen’s teaching practice is certified with U.K.A. Dance, with additional training through Creative Alliance and the Black Swans Partnership Programme (2011-12).  In 2017 she was accepted to further her professional development in Dance and Education at Trinity Laban, London. Helen’s weekly dance classes in contemporary jazz, commercial hip-hop and Cuban-salsa are held at The Dance Workshop studios in Birmingham, where she teaches both adults and children. Further out-reach and educational work has been supported by Arts Council England, Creative Black Country, and The Big Lottery Fund.

Helen is also a published poet, critic, and visiting Creative Writing lecturer.
