Helen is a highly skilled and versatile dance professional. She trained with leading musical theatre school CHB Performing Arts and certified her practice with U.K.A. Dance, before gaining further professional development training with Creative Alliance (2011-12) and Trinity Laban (DDTAL). She has worked as a professional dancer from the age of 16, garnering in-depth knowledge of theatre and performance, working with the likes of Def Motion, The Birmingham Hippodrome, Big John’s Mela Festival, The REP, and BIDF. She has been teaching for over decade, bringing her skills in modern dance practice, jazz, Cuban-salsa, commercial, and cross-discipline arts to institutions as diverse as The Birmingham Hippodrome, DanceXchange, Vamos Cubana, Poetry International, The Southank Centre, N.A.W.E. Integral Lab, and numerous schools and universities. Helen also specialises in Early Stages development and movement, and is a leading ES practitioner for Stagecoach Theatre Arts.
Helen’s cross-discipline, choreographic work has been supported by Arts Council England (2016, 2017) and The Big Lottery Fund (2013) and showcased at The Southbank Centre, The Birmingham Literature Festival (2014), The Birmingham Weekender Festival (2017) and The Arena Theatre (2016). She became movement director for Regional Voice in January 2015. She is a published poet, lecturer, and graduate of Philosophy, as well as a dance artist.
